Life without REEN sensor technology
Before Halden Municipality Installed REEN sensor technology, there was a big problem with control. “We had zero control,” says System administrator Roberth Johansen. The containers were all over the city and no one knew how full the container was. This gave Halden Municipality a big challenge when it came to invoicing, “Containers were emptied on planned routes regardless, whether the container was 10% full or overfilled, we actually had no idea”.
The municipality invoiced per emptied container, regardless of whether the container was empty or full. The hope was to have accurate data over the filling degree of the containers so that they could invoice for actual empty containers.
Savings
We started with a few sensors and it quickly escalated with sensors on all containers when we saw how efficient the technology is.
Once Halden municipality had Installed our REEN sensor technology, they experienced enormous savings! Now they use the data from our sensors and the filling degree on the container to see where it is efficient to do the emptying’s. “Before REEN, we emptied twice on Saturdays, now we don’t need to anymore. It saves us a lot of money in terms of overtime pay and weekend allowances,” says Roberth. Halden Municipality have actually saved an entire working day per week by using the sensor technology from REEN. Not only that, but the municipality has already saved what they invested in running REEN technology.
Satisfied residents
When the containers were full, there were many complaints to the municipality, nobody wants littered streets or overflowing containers. After REEN came into the picture, Halden Municipality very rarely experiences complaints.
Before we were called almost every day regarding overfilled containers, now we almost never get complaints. This is incredibly important for us and the citizens
Thanks to Halden municipality and Roberth Johansen for a nice chat!
